Marine Software Newsletter - August 2001
U.K. based software house Marine Software Limited has supplied Marine Planned Maintenance for Windows to Byron Marine for M.V. Dorada, the Falkland Islands Fishery Protection vessel. Marine Software carried out a skeleton setup of the planned maintenance database creating a PM JobCard for each item on the Master Survey list. Byron's own staff will complete the PM setup for the vessel adding routine maintenance tasks to the already created PM JobCards and adding extra PM JobCards for non-survey items.
MOD Warship Support Agency has installed Marine Planned Maintenance for Windows onboard HMS Dasher, an Archer Class vessel. British Aerospace set up the planned maintenance database and some modifications to the standard program were commissioned and delivered. Following a satisfactory trial, the Warship Support Agency has indicated an intention to order a further fifteen systems to be installed onboard other vessels of the class, together with three office systems to enable maintenance status to be monitored ashore.
Bermuda Marine & Ports have ordered an Office Planned Maintenance system for four vessels, two ferries and two tugs. The system has been delivered incorporating the two ferries and the other two vessels will be added at a later date. In this case the client will undertake all the planned maintenance setup in house. The system will be run ashore with PM Jobs lists being issued to the vessels and job completion reports being entered onto the system when received from the vessel. This avoids the necessity of installing computer systems onboard the vessels, reducing the cost of the installation. This order follows a successful installation of a Marine Planned Maintenance system in the Bermuda Rescue Co-ordination Centre earlier this year.
Viking River Cruises has taken delivery of Marine Planned Maintenance for Windows for Viking Danube bringing the total number of systems delivered to them to five.
